Why did we have to wait over a month to attend a board meeting?
ReplyDeleteThey are usually the 3rd week of every month and this week the board meeting took place the 4th week of the month. My neighbors say that it was because Karen Felder heard from a member that over 30 members wanted to attend the last meeting because of news of "the stalker" so she pushed real hard to have it cancelled. I noticed that the Club board that announces upcoming events and meetings at The Club did not have a flyer discussing when the next borad meeting was until the afternoon of the 27th of August--that's the day of the board meeting!!!!!I never believed what my neighbors said about Karen (The Clu'b Manager) but I can see now she sure does know how to manipulate things to benefit her and her needs.
I understand now why our friends were so intimidated when they attended the club board meeting. It's been over a year now but they felt that the board members were just very insincere in their efforts to address their needs. I think it's time to choose a whole new committe.

ReplyDeleteWe are happy to see that an informative blog was created. I read the comments posted under "News & Info about The Club at Rancho Niguel". I have to agree that Karen ,the Club Manager, isn't the best candidate for the position. She just does not work well under pressure and does not confront club issues. I think what The Club needs is someone who will not hide the issues and deal with the problems head on, but her brother John Felder helps her hide what she refuses to confront so I can see how she's been able to pull this of for 10 or 11 years.
ReplyDeleteAs I read the comments on "news & Info at The Club @ Rancho Niguel" I wonder if the residenta at Rancho know that we don't have to have Seabreeze manage The Club if we are not happy with the service they provide. Karen Felder is good at masking what she wants to keep hidden lets do something about it!

ReplyDeleteI tried calling Seabreeze last week and the phone just rang & rang. I think it is safe to assume that Seabreeze's CEO does not know because Karen's brother John Felder keeps all the stuff she wants concealed hidden. This is old news & I don't think it will change unless Lisa Dale (CEO) becomes aware of it all.
ReplyDelete"News & Info at The Club at Rancho Niguel" was filled with many negative comments about the way The Club is managed. I'm not surprised really. I do wish we can group together and voice these concerns to The Head of Seabreeze, hopefully this will make a difference.
ReplyDeleteIt's easy to hide your mistakes when your brother's your boss. That's one reason Karen's been able to get away with mismanaging the club all of these years. I would encourage anyone who has any concerns about Karen to contact the president of Seabreeze management, not her brother John Felder. I think it's the best way to approach the situation with good results.
ReplyDeleteI certainly hope the new year will mean an end to mismanagemnt at The Club. I along with 3 other members are going to take steps to make sure this takes place.
ReplyDeleteI wanted to get my new ID card today but a staff member said I need to wait till Jan 7, 2010 when Karen's back in town. She was polite and said I'd be able to enter and use the club until then. Karen how about some proper training for your employees? How hard is it to make on of these cards??I'm sure your staff can handle it if YOU TAKE THE TIME TO SHOW THEM.

ReplyDeleteI would not count on Karen training the staff to make member's cards. She likes to control this situation completely. There's a fee if you lose your card. My friends son (who works full time)was bragging about how his mother spoke to Karen about not charging him for his lost card and Karen waived the fee. (I confirmed this with the boys mother)The reason Karen gave for waiving the fee was because "your family is so nice". Our son who is the same age as this young man and also works full time was told exceptions are never made and he had to pay for his card. My son's card was not lost it was stolen!!He went to Knott's Berry Farm and got pick pocketted! I even called to see if she would make an exception and brought up the name of the young man who did not have to pay for his card and she denied that it ever happened!!!!So that's how Karen operates. There have been many similar accounts that other members have spoken of.

ReplyDeleteI know the family you wrote about and they are avid tennis players(Tennis is Karen's favorite sport) so yes she does play favorites not very professional I know. I would tell you to take this concern to the board meeting but I think we both know it woul resolve nothing. Soooooo unprofessional Karen.
The club will be renovating the bathrooms this month. I would advise members to avoid going there at all costs. We all know what a disaster the pool deck renovation thanks to poor planning & decision making. You would be better off going to the YMCA or 24 hr. fitness.

I didn't have time to read all the comments on this site but I'm a little at ease just knowing that I'm not the only homeowner who is displeased with the improper management of the club. It was also news to me that Karen's brother works for Seabreeze, that explains why she can get away with her mismanaging. I hope this site can make a difference, big improvements are needed.
ReplyDeleteI think it's time Seabreeze knew about the homeowners dissatisfaction with Karen. I called their offices on Dec. 22nd of last year. I was put on hold, disconnected, then I called again and the phone just rang over and over again. I'd appreciate anyone else's help in contacting them and sharing our concerns.
ReplyDeleteI just read "News & info at The club @ Rancho Niguel" on this site and now see that many other homeowners at Rancho share alot of my concerns. This site is appreciated but I think The President of Seabreeze should know our concerns. I too agree that Karen, the board of directors and John (Karen's brother)have been skirting various issues.
ReplyDeleteI am furious! I've written 2 letters and today I tried calling Seabreeze 4 times the 1st 2 times I called the phone rang for over three minutes! I hung up and tried again and was told the system was not working, then I was disconnected! The fourth time I called I was connected to the wrong person! I'd like to have someone help me with an accounting error is this too much to ask?

ReplyDeleteIf I were you I would just go to Seabreeze to resolve your accounting issue. They are in Aliso Viejo just use mapquest for directions. They are not a good management Co. so I think you'll see quicker results if you go in person.
Let me save anyone with accounting problems some time. When I was unsuccessful in resolving my dispute I called Karen at the club she said the people at Seabreeze were just plain incompetent. She told me to call and ask to speak with her brother John. She also said make sure you tell him His sister Karen asked me to contact him, problem was resolved the next day! Good luck
ReplyDeleteThere are tennis instructor's at the club that are teaching without having insurance. I spoke with one of both of the tennis pro's and they both said Karen knows about it! She's doesn't care to enforce the rules with everyone! I would advise everyone not to take lessons from anyone other than Fredde or Hanly. I asked Karen about the other instructor's insurance status and she said he does not teach enough people to be insured! Fredde and Hanly both say this is not true so please be very cautious about this.

ReplyDeleteI wrote a letter to the President of Seabreeze last year in June and Ihave not heard back from her. I had a talk with another homeowner who decided it was important to share his concerns about the club with the president. He sent a letter to Seabreeze last Sept. 2008 and also has not heard back from Lisa Dale. I'm not sure if Mrs. Dale has recieved our letters or if someone else at the management office has. I feel we have waited long enough to get a response. Does anyone know Mrs. Dale's home address? I would like to try once more as I feel our concerns need to be resolved.

ReplyDeleteThis morning I saw signs that the bathroom remodel has started and there are no available showers or dressing rooms, ok I guess i'll just drive home & shower. As I was walking to the field area to use one of the port-a-potties I heard Karen tell one of the construction workers that "the people here are so damn entitled" then she said she was tired of hearing people "bitch" about the club only providing 2 portable restrooms during this renovation. Gee karen, I did not know that we homeowners, who actually are the reason why you are employed here, were such a nuisance to you! Might I advise everyone to look into 24 hour fitness, they are now offering 1 week for free and I believe it's going to be a much more pleasant experience than working out at the club.
ReplyDeleteA friend of mine is close with Karen at the club and she has shared some information with me that has really surprised me. Karen is not good at customer service and she's not professional. She should watch what she says because word spreads but then again she's got the board and her brother at Seabreeze to cover up for her.
ReplyDeleteMy wife & I are mortified! We read the comments posted on "news & info about the club" We heard stories from friends & neighbors but not in such detail. This has to stop now! I don't know if Seabreeze is aware(sounds like there's a huge chance they don't) I think they are the ones who need to know and I will be contacting them. I think everyone with concerns should (since the board is not handling things).
ReplyDeleteI'm bummed to hear about Karen's comments about the homeowners regarding the bathroom remodel. We don't know her very well but we've heard such negative feedback. My husband and I rent a house and were looking to buy in the area but we are not sure it's worth it now. We just looked at a home off of camino del avion and learned that we could join the laguna niguel racquet club. You don't need to live in any certain area you just pay the fees. The club has everything that the club at Rancho Niguel has to offer and we've gotten great feedback from several friends who are memkbers there.

ReplyDeleteFor this freason I think it's important to address Seabreeze regarding our grievances. If things don't improve after this then we should consider another management co. I have a family member who is an attorney who is researching this for us.
My husband went to 24 Hour Fitness to check out thier week free promo. It's definitely worth it, he says.I will be signing up for membership there today. For the homeowners who have to pay the membership dues whether they use the club or not I still think you should see this facility, it's so much nicer than the club and they have so many different offers I think these people are willing to work with you which is more than I can say about Karen felder. ReplyDeleteI read the comment about the security guard who was sleeping on the job last year visiting Karen at the club. I just realized that I've seen this guard at the club visiting with Karen last year several times. I did not recognize him out of uniform! No wonder he was not fired he's buddy-buddy with Karen! If he comes back this year as hired security Seabreeze is going to get an earful from me!
ReplyDeleteI believe that this blog is helpful because it allows rancho niguel residents to share and learn about what goes on at the club. I can't agree more with those of you who mentioned that Seabreeze should know about our experiences but a friend of ours(a family friend)wrote a letter to Seabreeze last year and has not heard back. I've just learned that a friends husband wrote a letter to the CEO a few months ago and also has not gotten a response. So what's goin on here? Are they being ignored? intercepted? (I guess Karen's brother is employed at Seabreeze). We don't know but these matters have to be addressed. Perhaps it need to be hand delivered to the CEO?
ReplyDeleteI asked one of the guys at office yesterday who the club planned on hiring for security this summer. He said they will probably use the same company they used last year. I refuse to pay for a guard that sleeps by the poolside! Our HOA dues are paying for these guards and as I read and see that Karen is a close friend of this guard I now see why he was never fired in the first place! I will make sure that this does not happen again, how safe is it for our children to swim in an unsupervised pool???
ReplyDeleteToday I ran into a member at the club who was allowed to bring in 8 guests! I was told the limit was 5. Last year we had family visiting us from out of town and we were not allowed entrance into the club because we had 6 guests. I had to call my neighbor, ask her to come to the club and stay with us just to get the 6th family member in. They told me no exceptions are made, I felt very inconvenienced but I noticed that there was a sign posted about the guest rules so I dropped it. This member was allowed to bring her guests in and told next time she could only bring no more than 5 guests. She said Karen was the one who permitted her to do this. This is not fair! The woman also said that she was not even asked to sign in the extra guests, so do they just enforce the guest policy when they feel like it? And what if these guests are injured while at the club can they sue the club since they were never asked to sign the release of liability? The next time I have more than 5 guests I am going to bring up this scenario to Karen and insist that I & all my guests be allowed to use the club.
ReplyDeleteMost of the rancho niguel homeowners know that Karen does not always enforce the club rules. When I figured this was true I just plan my visits when she's not there then I tell whoever is working that I already got it approved by Karen to have extra guests and it works all the time.If she's not going to play by the rules we don't have to either.
ReplyDeleteSomeone in the gym told me about this blog this morning. I am upset at what I have read particularly in the New & Info section of this site. Some members who live down the street from us have a son who is close to one of the young men who work at the club and they always had the most derrogatory things to say about how Rancho niguel is managed. I never paid attention to this but I don't think we can ignore what's happening anymore. If going to a board meeting won't help then perhaps we need to reconsider and change the management company?
ReplyDeleteKaren's job is not taht difficult, busy at times maybe but she has no experience working in corporate america, she does not have a college degree, she can't handle even the slightest stress(I saw the way she stressed out over the fiesta celebration at the club last September) she even asked friends whom she did not pay to help her, I spoke with some of them that evening, one of them used to work at the club and she agreed that Karen's not management material. With all that working against you it helps to have your brother be your boss. My kids could manage the club better than Karen can!
ReplyDeleteI read the Jan 13th comment-2:21pm and I also attended the fiesta. I have to say that food was mach better at the Luau year before. I don't know why they changed catering company, maybe I will ask Karen but most people like food from previous luaus.I think maybe they wan more people to come so they reduce price and get cheaper food quality---too bad for us:(

ReplyDeleteI googled Karen felder rancho niguel club blog to find this site. Sometimes depending on the real estate sites I can't find this site under just Rancho niguel clyb blog. The word is traveling though and many residents are appreciating the information this blog provides.
ReplyDeleteI have children who are all under the age of eight and they will be so excited to swimm in the main pool when school gets out. We cannot allow a sleeping guard to be employed at the club! I agree we are paying for this and while I do try to keep a close watch on all my children I am extemely not in favor of this guard friend of Karen's returning to the club. Let's not allow this to happen!

ReplyDeleteI did not have the time to finish reading all of the comments but some really bother me in the "News & Information" section. If the board members and Karen are running the board meetings so poorly then we need to re-elect new board members and have a nuetral party ,maybe a group of about 5 or 6 residents,to attend each board meeting so we can insure fairness.

I read J.T's Dec 30th comment. I got so frustrated when I wanted a card for a family member made and no one but Karen could make this happen. Karen was off for 3days in a row! It can't be that difficult to print out a membership card, she needs to train her staff I'm sure they can handle making cards.

ReplyDeleteI spoke with one of the construction workers at the club today, do you know they are partially remodeling the bathrooms only to remove everything and re-do the tiles next year? Whose idea was this, it's pointless! They should have just waited till next year to do a complete job. It's a real inconvenience to members. Was this the boards idea? Why are they making decisions that effect all members of the club?

ReplyDeleteThe sleeping security guard people have been writing about is definitely a good friend of Karen's, I've seen him visiting her in the office having cofee and eating many times. There was another guard on duty, I think his name was Jimmy. He had blonde hair, this guard was exceptional. He would check all areas of the club. He found out there was a homeless man living on the slopes outside the parking lot!!!! He's the one we need at the club this summer. I heard from a neighbor that this guard annoyed Karen, she told this member "he was too militant and needed to tone it down." I asked one of the staff members why we don't have Jimmy patroling the club and she said the security company promoted Jimmy so his responsibilities are different. I want Jimmy or someone like him back! We cannot tolerate a sleeping guard on the job just because he is Karen's friend.
ReplyDeleteI think it's pointless to attend the club's board meetings. My experience has been that decisions are made to accomodate and please the board and Karen. What I've read in the news and info section of this blog confirms this. I will ask Karen if they will be bringing back the security guard that sleeps on the job & socializes with her in the office --don't remember his name. I'll talk to the management company about this if I have to.

ReplyDeleteI brought my sons boogie board to the club last Friday when Karen was working and she let us in. She never said anything about them not being allowed. She was on the phone and looked preoccupied or maybe she just can't multi task. I guess it just depends on her mood whether she enforces policies or not. Sorry to hear about those residents that were hassled.

ReplyDeleteThe comments from last August are shocking. I have asked around and met with a few people who told me of their experiences with Karen and the board. Alot of people think that the Karen and the club boardmembers don't care to address their needs. What are we paying for then? I see less and less of the people who used to use the club regularly attending and now I read comments about members joining other gyms. I'd really like to see some improvements at the club rather than paying to go elsewhere.

ReplyDeleteI'm in total agreement about the board meetings being useless and approaching the management company sounds like a better way to go however, Karen's brother John is VP at Seabreeze and part of the board, he will always side with whatever Karen says so this needs to be taken into consideration.
ReplyDeleteIt's the same old story Karen makes exceptions for friends, takes bribes, board members and board member friends and family. It hasn't been run properly since she's been at the club.
ReplyDeleteMy first visit to the blog site. Whenever I tell Karen an improvement needs to be made at the club she tells me "Nobody else has complained about it." Like what I am telling her is not true, then she says "Go to the board meeting." From these inserts on this blog it looks like I am not the only one who is asking for improvements. If the board meetings are useless then what should we do?
ReplyDeleteI put in a call to Seabreeze management and a recording cut me off, it said there were problems with the system. I tried calling 5 times this morning, it was pathetic!
ReplyDeleteIn response to "Improvements at the Rancho Niguel club" I think we need to re-elect new board members. I also think the club needs to be managed by someone with genuine qualifications who is not going to play favorites with the residents---that's what we've got going on presently and it's not working.
ReplyDeleteIt would serve no purpose to discuss our issues with Karen at the board meetings if they are run the way I've heard from other residents & read about on this blog. It's time to have a private election where there's no interference from Karen. I'm going to see how this can be done.

ReplyDeleteI am getting hassled by a man in the gym who tells me I am not lifting properly. I told him thank you but I'm in a hurry I don't have much time. My friend was approached by him also she says he is not approved by the club's board of directors. He's in the gym almost daily and I'm getting tired of it. Karen needs to monitor this, it should not be happening. I've seen him do this for months now. A friend of mine says Karen knows about him and spoke to him but she needs to keep tabs on him cause he's annoying!

ReplyDeleteDoes anyone know when the bathroom remodel will be over? The contractor says 2 to 3 weeks but they are not even touching the lockerroom and showers except for a new coat of paint. except for installation of the toilets, sinks and dividers it's done, this shouldn't take more than a couple of days. I used to work construction so I know I hope they don't plan on dragging this job out for much longer.

I'd like to see Karen enforce the rules for use of the party room fairly, she let's these tennis players eat and socialize in there without paying for use of the room. I've rented the room twice last year and had to pay each time. Do I need to take up the game of tennis to avoid payment?
ReplyDeleteKaren looked frazzled today, she is the only one working the office tonight. There's a problem with the port-a-potty doors and it was a wet mess in there, she asked the cleaning guy to help her. She had the gate open while she was on the phone so I was able to walk right in without showing my card, she needs more than one person covering each shift.

ReplyDeleteIn response to Karen not charging tennis players to eat and socialize in the Niguel room....are you kidding me? I wanted to rent the room for a charity and they would not waive the fee. I think I'll just tell my friends to wear tennis clothes for our next charity event and I'll just tell Karen that we are a tennis league.

ReplyDeleteIt's true Karen bends the rules for tennis league's. Just dressing up in tennis clothes would not be enough. You would have to be with a league. The majority of these tennis players are not even members of the club. I've spoken with Karen about this she minimizes it but she does this alot. Last year there were more than 15 league games using our club tennis courts and partying in the niguel room for free!!!!!!!!
I hope that there won't be any difficulty bringing Jimmy on as the security guard this summer. If Karen is friends with the sleeping security guard she may make waves if residents resist her decision. We may need to let Seabreeze know about this.

It may be the boards decision who to hire but the guard sleeps while on the job, I don't care if he's Karen's friend it's not safe for members and it can't continue. So yes, members in this case should be able to select another guard.

ReplyDeleteI entered the club again without showing my membership card. Karen was on the phone and someone was in her office, why doesn't she have more than one person working? She obviously can't do it herself. What if I was a child molester or a freak of some sort? She makes it too easy for anyone to enter but based on her choice of security guards I guess safety is really not a concern of hers.

CUTTING BACK? that will certainly not insure members safety. I thought this was a private club???We can't have the gate open just because Karen is short staffed! My dues went up last year along with everyone elses and we are short staffed?????

She literally changes her story!!!!!How do you deal with someone who flat out LIES like this? ReplyDeleteFor pete's sake I saw the sleeping security guard visiting with Karen today. This better not mean she's hiring him to patrol the pool this summer. Thought I should let you all know since many of us are not in favor of having him come back.

ReplyDeleteI do not like the sound of that. I complained about this guard to Karen and I know that the security company has gotten complaints also. Someone should call the security co. before she tries to manipulate this situation in her favor. I will call tomorrow to find out what company it is.
Karen will say the board picks the security company but I know she has a big say in it and she has said to me that she and the security guard-Alfredi are friends so that's why he continued to work as guard at the club even though he sleeps on the job.

ReplyDeleteFirst time visiting this blog, it's about time is all I can say. I think we need to let each other know what's happening at the club. I pay for a gym membership elsewhere(I can't stand dealing with Karen's BS) but I'd like to know what's up (since we are paying dues)
ReplyDeleteI feel like the club is being used by more and more non-residents thanks to Karen. I have not been able to play tennis because all the courts were being used by a tennis league(mainly non-residents, I met 2 from San Juan, 3 from Huntington Bch., and 2 from Westminster)This has happened twice already and now that the weather is nice again I'll be upset if it occurs again.

I have been living in this community for 15 years and never had a bad experience with the club’s facilities or Karen Felder. It sounds to me like a few small minded petty women have a personal vendetta either with Karen Felder or the management company. Whatever the case, talk about setting a poor example for your children. I would hate to have one of your kids stumble onto this site. Unless of course you are trying to breed the next generation of “Housewives of Orange County”. Shame on you.

ReplyDeleteI beg to differ, if you took the time to read some of the comments you would understand that these concerns are valid. How dare you compare them to a reality show. It is no surprise to many that Karen is very unfair and dishonest in her management of the club and these comments are VERY REAL EXPERIENCES OF RESIDENTS AT RANCHO NIGUEL. Maybe not your experience but I know that this has been a reality for more than a few people.
Just read the last few comments on this blog. Truthfully, I have better things I can occupy my time with than to make up stories. My concerns are important and they are not petty. My origional reason for checking up was to see if there were any updates about who will be the summer security guard at the club. Any news yet?
ReplyDeleteHey that bathroom remodel is over and it looks ok except for the floors. The contractor says the board opted to do floors next year and he tried to talk them out of the idea. I've done this type of work before and I can guarrantee you that they will have to re-replace alot of the new stuff from the first remodel. Too bad it would have looked real finished with some nice new tile flooring.
ReplyDeleteWow. I am shocked. I am the Personal Trainer (Michael) at the Rancho Niguel Club. Karen is a wonderful person and we are all lucky to have her. The Club is a home for many families who raised their children here. A home for members and their guests to have an oasis in Laguna Niguel. I suggest to come to a board meeting if you have concerns. I will guarantee you that you will be treated with respect and things will be handled. I just have one suggestion to many people, smile and be happy... Love you all

I've seen this man in the office talking with Karen and other office workers too. Why does Karen keep allowing this????
ReplyDeleteI have alot of things to do during the day and when he interrupts me I cannot complete my workout. A friend told me that a member went to speak to Karen about this last year. What's so difficult about this? I don't want to go to a board meeting (we know that they are ineffective). Has anyone else had this happen?
I know the trainer you speak of. He's from England(I don't remember his name) but I know a woman who spoke to Karen about it last year. I have also seen this guy in the gym as early as 6am. He's there throughout the day, it's how he tries to get people to pay to workout with him. Karen will act like she doesn't know to avoid confrontation as usual.

The music in the gym is not suitable for the majority of people who work out there. I have addressed this with Karen before, there was loud rap music,profane language. This isn't a rap club, I couldn't hear my own music over this crap.

Wow, I had some of my own dissappointing experiences with Karen's management at the club and heard about other homeowners grievances, I guess it's happened often enough to motivate others to express openly. Thanks for sharing everyone I think this will be helpful to many residents.
ReplyDeleteI was outside the office window yesterday and waited a couple minutes but Karen was too busy visiting with a woman and her baby.If you can't focus on two things at once why not have two people working a shift??? It's doesn't look like the jobs too damanding? I guess I'm agitated because I asked a staff member last week and they said I needed to speak specifically with Karen regarding this matter.

We spoke with our friends down the street and they said they never got a response back from Lisa Dale. We also checked to make sure that they had the correct address for Seabreeze and they did. They wrote to Miss Dale regarding the mismanagement at the club by Karen Felder. We feel that 2 months is plenty of time and they should have heard back from her by now. It's disappointing, I wonder who or how many people sort out the mail over there? Wish I had better news for you.

I just found out about this blog. I have not gotten to read all the comments however, this most recent one about the letter sent to Seabreeze. If you are certain that you sent it to the correct address with the right postage than either Lisa Dale does not feel it's a priority OR she never got the letter.

ReplyDeleteWell my party was a great hit! I just arranged to have it on a day when Karen was not working and we came in our tennis garb. Fourteen people came (at different times) and we used some of the picnic tables---for freeeeee!!!!!!If tennis league can use the niguel room for free we can party outside too!Thanks for the idea.

ReplyDeleteAt our family Christmas party last year a few people were talking about how Karen doesn't always charge members (or should I say friends?) for their lost cards? One guy said he didn't have to pay. That really upsets me we had to pay for our sons lost card and she clearly said there were no exceptions! This must be going on alot based on all the comments on this site
ReplyDeleteRe: recent postings on this site, we have a friend had his wallet stolen and Karen did not charge him for a new card AND....we also have another driend who had her purse stolen at a theme park and she was told there were no exceptions so she did have to pay. If I were her I would have refused payment!

ReplyDeleteI took a look at bathroom remodel today. I can't believe the outcome. It's not looking real polished. I think the floor looks terrible. I'm scared to think of how much was spent. The pipes in the mens room toilets are crocked. I know how to do this type of work and I have to say it's a shotty job.

She shouldn't even be managing the club she has no real management skills. I'm sure her brother at Seabreeze has been covering up for her for years.

Last night I noticed Karen had 2 people working instead of doing it alone. Maybe she's reading this site cause she hasn't had anyone work nights with her in a looooong time. I know at times members play but this happens too much and it's an inconvenience when we pay dues and can't even get a court to play on!!!! I know Karen get's gifts from some of these league people (she probably won't say she does) but I've spoken to the gift-givers.

Why is Karen not charging these League people to use the Niguel Room? I can buy her a gift too or a gift card for $25. I'm shocked that she takes part in something like this.

I knew the accounting dept was terrible to deal with but I question Seabreeze altogether now. Do they even care???? Maybe it's time to look into other options for management at the club?

First I'd like to say that the creator of this website deserves a giant thank you! Job very well done. Secondly, I'm glad people are taking steps to improve Karen's lack of management at the club and thirdly It's disturbing to read that Seabreeze is not doing anything about this. Something needs to be done.

ReplyDeleteI do all the repairs in my home now for over 18 years and I could have done a better job remodeling the club bathrooms than the contractors that were chosen. The pipes in the men's stalls are crooked, that's going to cause problems. It's not installed correctly----is this how carelessly our dues are being used?????

The info for the next board meeting is not posted (It never is until the day of the meeting) I had to call to find out what day it was on. I don't have alot of hope that the board will be very helpful(look at their track record)

ReplyDeleteThe two guys that were working in the club office last night did absolutely nothing! They were flirting with girls and socializing with friends all night. I watched them, is this what our dues are paying for! I know when the women work in the office they are great about addressing what should be done. Poor judgement call Karen, those 2 young men should not be working at the club again.
ReplyDeleteJust a note to anyone interested Karen knows that Robert and John don't do a thing when they work together she doesn't care as long as she has someone covering the shift that's all she cares about. I just got back from the club and she's working alone again--cutback! These young guys don't really want to do anything but meet girls and hangout with friends.

ReplyDeleteI was at the club last night and there were a bunch of young adults (not acting like adults) by the pool screaming and being so disruptive it was difficult to relax and enjoy myself by the pool. I was not surprised that John and Robert were not doing anything about this even after I asked if they could tell these people to quiet down, it would not be "the cool thing to do, right?"

ReplyDeleteWell look on the bright side everybody it's when these two young men are working that it's easiest to get extra guests into the club, come without a membership card, not have a towel or proper shoes in the gym(our neighbors kid wears flip-flops in there all the time)and have parties at the picnic tables and gazebo for FREE!

I think it's accurate to say that many homeowners have learned that Karen and the board are have not done their best with handling member situations. While I beleive this blog is helpful and informative I think that may not solve problems either.

ReplyDeleteThis blogsite will hopefully get things moving! My neighbors up the street told me about this. I think Seabreeze needs to move Karen to another property. Having her brother John as her boss has definitely made it so she is able to cover up anything she wants to conceal and that's no good.

ReplyDeleteA friend found this site yesterday and told me about the comments about the Tennis League that does not pay for the use of the Niguel Room. I noticed last year they were in there alot, I actually lost count but I'd say at least 10 times. I was told that no exceptions were made but it continues to happen thanks to Karen. I can see that others have noticed this too. It doesn't surprise me though Karen's not very professional.
ReplyDeleteI feel lucky to have stubbled across this site. My husband, our 3children and myself are relocating from Colorado to Southern California for my husbands work. We are looking in the Laguna Niguel/Dana Point area. Today our realator is showing us some properties and she mentioned THE CLUB at Rancho niguel so I googled and found this blog. The news & info drew me in as we are interested to see what current residents feel about this club. We were shocked by the number of disappointed people that have contributed their stories to this site. All I can say is that if this has been going on so much for so long then it looks like the management company (Which we were told was Seabreeze Company in Alsio Viejo) does not care about how the club is managed. We want to thank you for providing this helpful information. We feel confident that we should look elsewhere. We wish all of you luck with improving the areas of your concerns.

Found out that Jimmy is still with Patril One but has been promoted so it's not likely he would Patrol the club unless they were short on guards. The guard that would sleep on duty is working an early morning day shift in a gated community so I will be surprised and upset if he ends up back at the club.

ReplyDeleteI want to thank all of you who came to our homeowners meeting yesterday Feb. 23rd. It was nice to attend a meeting where we could share concerns and questions and know everyone there had the other persons best interest in mind (unlike our club board meetings). We had 62 people show! and a total of 13 phone calls from people who said they would like to come but had prior commitments. I know we can help each other out. Yesterday several of you mentioned that the club board meeting information for this Thurs. was not posted. That's pretty standard as Karen prefers that no one come to "complain" as she puts it. We will have another meeting in a few months. Thank you all for sharing.

ReplyDeleteJust want to let everyone know that a worker painted areas of the gym at the club and the fumes are terribly unhealthy. I would avoid the gym for the next few days because whatever was used is very potent and it is not good for your health to breath in this air. My friend was there when he began painting and she became ill and had to leave. I just wanted to let everyone know.

ReplyDeleteI want to add my thanks to the comments on this blog for all the efforts that went to the homeowners meeting this week. I've been to a couple of board meetings and the feeling at our homeowners mtg.was so inviting and caring, the club's board meetings just don't compare.
ReplyDeleteI had the hardest time getting on this site today, not sure if it has to do with the number of postings today. I too am glad I attended our Homeowners Meeting. I would not mind hosting future meetings at my home, I'll speak to the hostess with the mostess about this. :)
